The first name of the city was San Jerónimo de Buenavista. Some years later the city is named San Jerónimo de Montería to remember the first place where the city was founded (Monterías: place where hunters meet to hunt.)

My hometown is famous for its people. It is one of the few towns in Colombia which has had three senators in just one government period. Besides, there are important painters writes and all kind of people who put its name in a high level in Colombia and around the world.
There is an old legend which is told by grandfathers and grandmothers. They say that people who drink water from “El Cabro” or “La Agua” which are natural water fountain will stay in Sahagún forever, maybe it is true , because people who visit Sahagún don’t want to leave it.
